Back at CCC’s main menu, choose “Clone” to create the exact replica of the disk as a disk image file.Pull down the “Image Format” menu and choose “Read-only disk image”, this will save the image as the well-known DMG format.Name the disk image and select a destination, if you do not have the local storage capacity for such a large disk image, make sure to choose an external disk or network disk as the image destination.Open the “Destination” menu and choose “New disk image”.Launch Carbon Copy Cloner and open the “Source” menu, select “Macintosh HD” or whatever the Mac’s hard drive is called.Download Carbon Copy Cloner for free from Bombich and copy it to the / Applications / folder.
